DAY FOURTEEN - The first round of the NBA Playoffs trudges on as the six seed Nets look to finish off the three seed Toronto Raptors in game six.
Raptors at Nets, 8:00 PM, ESPN
Winner: Nets
Thoughts: I said the Nets would win, and I figured it would be in about six games, so I'm fully inclined to pick the Nets tonight. That and I want this damn first round marathon to be over already. I'll give credit to Toronto for keeping themselves alive in game five; players like Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani , and Anthony Parker all stepped up to grab the Raps a narrow win. Nevertheless, I doubt we'll see this series go seven games. The Nets have a chance to finish this on their home floor, and they do not want to go back to face a game seven in Toronto. The big three for Jersey have been playing huge, Carter and Jefferson are both scoring aggressively and VC's jumpshot even looks smooth of late. And oh yes, Jason Kidd is averaging a triple-double.
Meanwhile, Chris Bosh has dropped off significantly. Bosh started off the series with two solid games, but over the last three Bosh has only averaged 11.7 points on 33 percent shooting from the floor. Bosh is the key for the Raptors in this series, and if he's not playing his best, they're going to struggle to win. As I said, players like Calderon, Parker, and Bargnani can step up occasionally, that's their job, but you can't expect to win when your best player is struggling like Bosh is now. The Nets are simply the better team, with more experience and more talent. This series ends tonight. Nets win.
