DAY SIXTEEN - The two best teams in the western conference kick off their series as San Antonio and Phoenix square off in the desert on day sixteen of the NBA Playoffs.
Nets at Cavaliers, 1:00 PM, ABC
Thoughts: I have the Cavs winning this series, but I'm going out on a limb here and saying the Nets win game one, in Cleveland. The Nets just came out of a tough series against Toronto, and while Cleveland is more rested after their sweep of Washington, they're also a little more chilled out. Cleveland cruised through their series with Washington, never really breaking a sweat even when they should have. Honestly some of the Cavs-Wizards games were closer than they should have been and it makes you wonder about Cleveland some times. There can be a temporary adjustment period when a team goes from playing a completely inferior opponent to a much more respectable opponent. New Jersey is much better (read: healthier) team than the Wizards, and I think they're going to get the jump on the Cavs in game one. Nets win.
Spurs at Suns, 3:30 PM, ABC
Thoughts: Every game in this series is going to be tough for me to make. But I'm taking a slight angle on this one and giving an edge to San Antonio in game one. In game one of a new playoff series often a lot is determined by who the teams played in the previous round and what adjustments they have to make. While Denver is no where near the caliber team of Phoenix, they were a running team much like the Suns and the Spurs have shown some success in dealing with that style of play. Meanwhile the Suns got through playing the Lakers, powered by one player. Now they play the Spurs, where three or four threats offensively can kill you any given night. The Spurs got off to a bad start in round one and without home court advantage in this series, they know they can't do that again. Spurs win.
