DAY TWENTY-FOUR - Allegations of dirty play, trash talk going both ways, harsh physical play - the heated Spurs/Suns series continues tonight in San Antonio as the Suns try to tie up the series. Plus, Shaq is in the TNT studio for tonight's coverage on day 24 of the NBA Playoffs.
Cavaliers at Nets, 7:00 PM, TNT
Winner: Cavaliers
Thoughts: Very simply, the Cavs will bounce back in this series tonight. I can't quite put my finger on why they lost game three, other than after six games they finally faltered. LeBron had a bad game and an off shooting night, something we haven't seen much of in the playoffs. Jason Kidd had another great game and another triple double. Also, New Jersey was able to gain some respectability on the glass, out rebounding the Cavs for the first time this series. Call me crazy, but I'm calling game three an aberration, damn near a fluke. Cleveland gets back on track tonight. Cavs win.
Suns at Spurs, 9:30 PM, TNT
Winner: Spurs
Thoughts: I touted this series as the best in the playoffs and the decider of the eventual NBA champs. Thus far it has lived up to all expectations. Not only do we have top level teams playing premium basketball, but an interesting little rivalry is also developing. Plenty of talk has been stirred up about Bruce Bowen and the physicality of the Spurs. Allegations and possibly dirty play aside, I'll say this: the Spurs are winning because of their physical play, but they aren't doing anything dirty or unfair. San Antonio is simply a more physical team on offense and defense and it's showing in rebounding totals and trips to the free-throw line. Phoenix can raises issues of what is or isn't acceptable in terms of physical play, but until (if) the league jumps in and rescues them, they're going to have to toughen up and learn to dish out some of what they've been taking. San Antonio gets another W at home and goes up 3-1. Spurs win.
